Cold weather continuing, cold weather possibly for January

Cold weather continuing for the next couple of days into the first week of the New Year's. The biggest cold weather to come after the New Year's around the 5th through 7th time frame of January. A back and forth period from mid month of January starting around the 10th of January and ending around the 20th. Some brutally cold air to close the month of January based on the CFS forecast model. The short-term forecast models are back and forth with the warmer condition for the European model for the forecast period starting to 8 to the 14th of January. The GFS solution shows cooler then the European model for this time frame but I am leaning towards the CFS forecast model for Colder Weather than all three of them combined. This CFS solution also showed Colder Weather First for the December forecast sooner than the GFS and European. For this reason only I am leaning towards the CFS forecast.

The video is in detail of what the forecast models are showing but all you need to know is short-term is could be colder than normal approximately 10 to 15 degrees colder here in Western New York what temperature is in the single digits as low and teens as a high and if that is maybe too warm for some of the time. I had a sick family member..

My mom was sick and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. I am just getting over a bad case of stomach flu. I plan on getting my winter weather final forecast ready for everyone. I then want to do a weekly up date for the week to come, and any national big storms. I should have my winter weather final outlook ready later next week.

Fathers Day 2017 Severe Weather Outlook For WNY!

Chance for severe thunderstorms later today!

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible later this evening for WNY! There is slight risk for severe thunderstorms to develop this late afternoon into this evening. Primary risk for severe weather is damaging winds and large hail. I do believe the Storm Prediction Center may upgrade our area to enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms instead of slight risk. Severe Thunderstorms for WNY later this April 20, 2017

Severe thunderstorms are possible today evening with damaging winds and large hail. An isolated tornado is also possible based on wi d sheer and wind profiles. All severe weather is likely after 8 pm to about 11 pm today this will allow the lake breeze to diminish allowing the Niagara Frontier to destabilize. Typically lake breeze is set up from the daytime heating and because allowing a CAP on the atmosphere making any thunderstorms to fall apart rapidly. This lake breeze will be limited due to a rapid advancement of a strong warm from will push north allowing the temperatures to soar into the lower 70s in places. This late day heating will limited the lake breeze influence enhancing the severe threat. In the mid afternoon Buffalo Batavia should be in the mid 50s with that warm front pushing through late dinner hour limiting that aforementioned lake breeze. I will be monitoring this very closely. Here is the forecasted radar from the NAM forecast model what is in good agreement with this system. I do feel that the instability of the atmosphere to be but more unstable being the potential for short lived cloud clearing and if this does materialize i would expect a few more tornadoes based on the wind shear and strong low level divergence and upper air cool pool aloft. This has the potential be be a dangerous situation. Because of this reason I expect the spc to haver us in western new York in enhanced risk for severe weather.
